How to Play Ludo Online
Ludo is a dice-based race game for 2–4 players. Each player controls four tokens that must leave their base, race around the shared board, and reach home before their opponents' tokens do.
Objective
Move all four of your tokens from base to home before your opponents do.
Setup
- Each player picks a color and places all four tokens in their starting base.
- Players take turns rolling a single six-sided die.
- Play proceeds clockwise around the board.
How to Play, Step by Step
Roll to exit base
A token can only leave base and enter play when its owner rolls a 6.
Move around the track
On any other roll, move one of your active tokens forward that many squares along the shared outer track.
Capture opponents
Landing exactly on a square occupied by an opponent's token sends that token back to its base — unless the square is marked "safe".
Enter the home column
After a full lap, each token turns into its own colored home column, which is exact-count only.
Bring tokens home
Move a token into the final home space with an exact dice roll. Rolling a 6 grants an extra turn.
Rules to Know
- Rolling a 6 lets you either bring a new token out of base or move an active token 6 squares, and grants another roll.
- Three 6s in a row typically forfeits that turn under standard rules.
- Safe squares (usually marked with a star or the start squares) protect tokens from capture.
- A token must reach its home slot with the exact number rolled — overshooting means it stays in place.
